Bug ID: 439545
Summary: Slow file sharing speed (PC->Android) when using
shared folders
Product: kdeconnect
Version: unspecified
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: android-application
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Slow file sharing speed (PC->Android) when using shared folders.
I have a shared folder (/sdcard/Download) on my phone which I share with PC via
KDE Connect (KDE Connect doesn't have any folder access apart from this one).
If I open that folder with Dolphin and paste the file, the transfer speed will
be about 1MB/s. But if I use file context menu (RMB on the file -> Send to
phone via KDE Connect), the speed will be about 10MB/s which is fine.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open KDE Connect on the phone and add a shared folder (I shared Download).
2. Find a file to share on your PC with Dolphin (ideally 300-500MB) and copy it
to the clipboard.
3. Open your phone on the devices tab, open the shared folder and paste the
file.
4. See that the transfer speed is very slow.
5. Stop transfering and RMB on the file -> choose option "Send file Via KDE
Connect".
6. Notice the much faster transfer speed (10-20MB/s in my case).
OBSERVED RESULT
Slow file transfer speed (1MB/s) when using shared folder. 10x times faster
sharing speed when not using shared folder.
EXPECTED RESULT
Same transfer speed with both cases.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
