And you certainly haven't been using Kate for longer than at least 2 people in this thread, one of whom is the person who created Kate and has been maintaining it ever since. Moreover ordering around makes people turn against you. This is free software, we made it in our free time, you didn't hire us to make it for you or fix bugs for you. However, if you really want to fix this for yourself here's what you can do to possibly get the behavior you want. - Open Kate documentation and read about Kate scripting - turn off strip trailing spaces in options - write a script that strip spaces as you see fit.
