Bug ID: 449301 Summary: Stuttering when *not* dragging a window Product: kwin Version: unspecified Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: platform-x11-standalone Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: marcmiltenber...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY In OBS Studio and Chromium at least, sometimes I get a stuttering where the contents of the window seem to alternate between two frames several times before using two new frames to stutter on. When the system is in this state, the only way to recover a smooth output of the contents of the window is when I attempt to drag the window. As long as I hold down the left mouse button, the window content is smooth. When I stop dragging, it stutters again. I can also recover when I close the stuttering application and restart it. Since this is hard to describe in words, I have uploaded a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rIKkQ7J-VQ I'm using Xorg on an AMD RX 5700 XT using the open source driver, kernel 5.16.0-051600-generic. I'd be willing to test on the new upcoming release if I find a way to install it on Ubuntu. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Notice stuttering 2. Drag window and see whether stuttering stops as long as the mouse button is pressed 2. Stop dragging the window and the stuttering starts again instantly. OBSERVED RESULT Stuttering when not dragging a window. EXPECTED RESULT No stuttering SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KUbuntu 21.10 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.86.0 Qt Version: 5.12.2 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
