I wonder if this was caused by a recent Mesa regression, whose symptoms line up
with what you're describing.

Fabian, do yo know if the fix for
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/5731 has been shipped in
Tumbleweed yet?
