            Bug ID: 450910
Summary: Plasma config got reset when my PC crashed
           Product: plasmashell
           Version: 5.24.2
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: major
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
          Reporter: techxga...@outlook.com
                CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
These are the times it happened:
* I screwed up when I was setting up my USB card for PCIe passthrough to my
Windows VM. My GPU (6900XT) accidentally was passed through instead of my GTX
1060 (still figuring out how to avoid that in the future).
* Another instance this happened is when my defective 6900XT was causing my PC
to crash (which stopped happening after replacing it).

In those times when my PC crashed, my Plasma config was reset to default
(wallpaper, Latte, Plasma panels). KWin wasn't affected.

Plasma wasn't the cause of the crash, but it became the victim

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make the PC crash (which I won't want to do unless it's by accident)
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Plasma configuration (i.e. Latte layout, wallpaper, panels) gets reverted back
to default state.

EXPECTED RESULT
Configs should've been fine.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Kubuntu 21.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.15.23-76051523-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 24 × AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor
Memory: 62.7 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Just want to reiterate that Plasma is the victim, not the cause, of the crash,
but I'd like for my configs to survive the crash if it happens again.
