It suddenly occurred to me that the problem might be the font and hence I selected Arial 9, as I know this font is fully functional on my PC. The result is attached and shows the super and subscripts correctly. Hence, the bug must relate to the MS Shell font that is the default in LabPlot. I will post this on Twitter too just in case anyone else has the same problem.
