I lack the overview to estimate if the technical change is an improvement in the summary. All I can do is to describe the uses I was missing (on first) sight. Any my use case was often to have a 15 minutes standard reminder and then when reacting to to the reminder, to push it back e.g. 2 minutes before the event.
