STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a bigfile (15 MB or so with mixed content) and load it.
2. Search for a word (Ctrl+F)
3. Search/Replace (Ctrl+R) for a word; just do "find all" without "replace all"
OBSERVED RESULT
2. takes minutes
3. reacts immediately
EXPECTED RESULT
2. should react immediately, too, and was in a version some years ago
