Oh yeah my bad totally forgot to mention that I'm on Xorg. I just tried Wayland and I guess it appears it does not do it on that... And I actually did test a few different versions of ubuntu and kubuntu live ISO's (20.04, 21.04, 22.04...) and discovered it does indeed do it on all of them, ubuntu (gnome) included. So yeah sorry about that, guess this isn't KDE-specific after all.
