I wasn't even expected an additional settings column in the menubar options. Think that is rather uncommon. As for the theme options I would rather expect them in view menu instead. Maybe moving the settings options to view would be a sane change and allow to get rid of the unexpected settings menu? This issue here is basically solved with this information.
