This is a new installation of digiKam as I have not used it before now. I had
alread tried your suggestion and copied the folder and subfolders of
.mysql.digikam to C:\digiKam. When I went back into digiKam it recreated the
databases in C:\Users\Stuart\Pictures\.mysql.digikam
I think the problem is that it is not storing my location change in
Settings/Configure/Database.

Base on your mention of digikamrc, I edited it to read "Internal Database
Server Path=C:/digiKam" and that worked for me.
