Same action into same file works ok

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select a rectangular area in one file (with image contents)
2. ctrl+C
3. go to another image in other file
4. ctrl+V
5. Rectangular area is marked, but is blanck

If copy/paste is performed inside an unique file, it works OK
