Bug ID: 466350
Summary: Attaching a screen with power off, powering on
afterwards results in very low resolution, doesnt
change
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version: 5.27.0
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: multi-screen
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
Flags: Wayland+, X11-, Intel+, Mesa+, nouveau-, NVIDIA-
SUMMARY
When attaching an external VGA screen (while power is off?) makes the laptop
recognize there is a screen. When then turning on the power, the resolution on
that screen is very low and you have to change it manually.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Attach VGA monitor with power supply off
2. Turn on VGA monitors power supply
3. Wait
4. Plug out and in the VGA monitor
OBSERVED RESULT
The resolution is really low, like 720*1200-ish. It doesnt change again to the
max detected and supported res, you have to manually go to the settings and
change it.
EXPECTED RESULT
The system should update the monitors resolution when it is plugged in again.
Or this weird bug should not happen, making it unnessecary (if you somehow want
lower res)
