Here is some info I gathered: First, when it all began, I had linux mint 20.3 (cinnamon). I tested the crashes on two other Linux mint 20.3 (cinnamon) machines and both ran smoothly. Then I tried to get the bug on the affected machine but with a different desktop environment. I installed KDE Plasma; followed the steps to reproduce the bug and nothing happened; the crash was absent. Seems like it only happens when I run kdenlive on cinnamon. Then I tried upgrading to Linux mint 21; it didn't solve the crashes. Then when I was trying to make a gdb log with backtrace, I also accidentally managed to get kdenlive working without crashes by running it with sudo.
