Bug ID: 468214 Summary: Dolphin search can not find a file (depends of a query) Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 19.12.3 Platform: Kubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: search Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: chessco...@mail.ru CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Sometimes can not find a file in a subfolder using filename filter. This depends of a search query. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a folder "find-test" and a folder "1" inside. Place "file3.txt" file inside "1". 2. Go into "find-test" folder and open the search. 3. You can find this file using queries "file" or "txt", but can not using "3" or ".txt". OBSERVED RESULT There is empty search result using some queries. EXPECTED RESULT This file should be in the results list SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.18.5 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.12.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Some users told me that this is because of indexing is sometimes inconsistent and recommend to rebuild filesystem index. I think it is rather dangerous situation when user does not know about it. I would prefer to fully disable indexing and make old style slow search file by file rather to miss the file I need. If the issue is unfixable by design (i. e. "search resuls is not guaranteed but searching is a fast" is by design), probably you could integrate KFind into Dolphin's left sidebar instead of the default search? KFind finds the file fine. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
