I changed something such that they always arrange into alphabetically sorted columns now (except for one time when I caught them following the same randomized noise pattern as before, then changed to alphabetically sorted later, again without me touching them in between) Packages I've installed that could potentially affect things like that (I think, based on my limited knowledge): Steam, wine, KVM virt manager and related dependencies (though I think I installed that after this started happening), elisa (maybe? I'm stretching there) Away from my desktop for this week, but I'll add more to that list when I get back if I forgot any major ones This is a relatively new install too. This year, around 1st week of Jan, so very few orphaned or outdated packages. Very few programs other than the ones I consider part of the basics.
