SUMMARY
Provide option to show combined memory and CPU consumption of a running
application.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start e.g. firefox
2. open several tabs
3. look at ksysguard's process table
OBSERVED RESULT
Many applications start a lot of child processes, such as firefox, chrome,
teams.
When I look at the tree, there are child processes that use more memory than
the parent process, so I assume that the memory (and CPU) consumption of child
processes is not included.
In the attached screenshot, memory for "firefox-bin" is 382,2 M (total memory
403,8) and the first child "Isolated" uses 575,8 M (total memory 579,8).
I'm aware that memory stats in a system that supports shared memory are tricky.
But it would really be good to provide simple values that help most users. And
I guess a very common question when a user looks at the system monitor is
"Which application is taking up that much memory?" or "How much will be free
when I close this or another application?"
Also, when I filter to "applications only" (not sure if translated correctly,
in German: "Nur Programme"), I get the values without the child processes.
EXPECTED RESULT
However, when I'm running low on memory or CPU usage is high, I want to quickly
see how much memory and CPU is used in total by which app. I actually don't
care about the details of the child processes (at first at least).
