The dialogue here seems to indicate that this is impossible, and my experience

appears to indicate that this hasn't been resolved yet, yet the resolution of
this bug is WORKSFORME and per

it seems to work for some people.
What's the actual status of this bug - WORKSFORME/FIXED, or persistent?
