I use a Notes Widget on a panel and if it was any smaller, it would be too small to use effectively for its primary purpose. I'd actually like to to be larger and plan to implement popup resizability soon. As for the Calculator widget, being small reduces the distance the cursor needs to travel when clicking on the buttons, which speeds up interaction.
