Attempting to drag a clip from the project bin onto the timeline causes a crash

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. (possibly relevant) heavily edit a video using cut and extract clip rather
than cut, delete and close space.
2. attempt to drag a new clip onto timeline
OBSERVED RESULT
click and grab causes kdeline to crash.
EXPECTED RESULT
successfully grab clip and add it to time
