SUMMARY
***
I want to make short mp4 videos for Tiktok of me playing guitar. I record the
audio in Reaper, export as wav, combine this with video recorded on my phone
(Android) and render as generic mp4 (h.264/aac). There is no apparent issue
with the audio until after I render the video, which has a strange
clicking/ticking noise. Please refer to the video linked here to get a better
idea of the noise: https://youtube.com/shorts/Fo9gyW0XBu0?feature=share

I have tried different rendering presets (mainly lossless and generic ones),
with mixed results. Either the video had the clicking noise, it didn't have
video and/or audio, or it simply wouldn't open in any app. The only preset
where the audio was fine, was if I render as wmv, which I then have to convert
online to mp4 because that is the only format Tiktok accepts.

I have messed around in Reaper switching between 44.1Hz and 48Hz, 16bit and
24bit, with no notable difference. I found the troubleshooting guide, which
specifies that audio files should be 16bit PCM, but this also made no
difference. I attached the 16bit PCM recording to this report in case it would
help you find a fix.

I tried different methods of recording, either through my audio interface or
Zoom H5 handy recorder. My amp has USB for recording and firmware updates, and
this is currently the only way to not have that clicking sound in the video
after rendering in Kdenlive. So there is a way around it but it's not exactly
practical, and I'm still very puzzled why the sound occurs. It's possible the
issue lies in my recording hardware, but then I wouldn't know why there is no
problem with the audio during recording or after rendering in Reaper. I
couldn't find anything about people having this specific problem. Berndmj over
on the Kdenlive subreddit tried to help but also couldn't find a solution, and
suggested I make this bug report.
