I also could force the behaviour by switching the top bar from floating to non-floating. Changing this led to the messed up screen. I now can provide more logs / debug output before and after as I know how to reproduce. Some additional notes to my setup: The Lenovo T14 is connected to the DELL Monitor via USB-C.
