            Bug ID: 475561
Summary: Can't open tar gz archives with unknown file extension
    Classification: Applications
           Product: ark
           Version: 22.12.3
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected], [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
You used to be open gzipped tar archives with arbitrary file extensions in ark.
Though it wouldn't handle it transparently, you had to open the file in Ark,
and then open the contained tar archive from within Ark, and you also couldn't
view it as a folder (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394744).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a gzipped tar archive
2. Give it some other file extension
3. Open it in ark
4. Try to open the contained tar archive

OBSERVED RESULT
It doesn't recognize it as a tar archive and instead asks to view it as text
when left clicking it

EXPECTED RESULT
Open the contained archive as a tar archive again. Or better, handle it
transparently just like when a normal file extension is used.
