Bug ID: 478380
Summary: Doesn't find icon when adding application from
appimage
Classification: Applications
Product: kmenuedit
Version: 5.27.9
Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
I have a few applications I use daily that are appimages. I want to be able tu
run them from the Launcher the same way I run applications that are installed
the more "traditional" (or should I say "obsolete"?) way. So:
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run kdemenuedit
2. Right-click on one of the categories and select "New item"
3. Under "Name", enter a name for the application
4. Under "Program", click the button to browse for an Appimage file
OBSERVED RESULT
The icon is not found automatically. If I click on the placeholder for the
icon, obviously the icon from the application is not available to select
EXPECTED RESULT
The icon should be extracted automatically from the appimage file. I shouldn't
have to do anything.
When I run the appimage, the app's icon shows up in the task manager, not a
generic icon, so there is an icon somewhere. If it can be found in order to
show it in the task manager, it must be possible to extract it from the
appimage file.
