Probably, there was a misunderstanding on my side. I wrote
"When I delete a file or folder dolphin moves the file to the trash without any
confirmation dialog regardless of the setting."
When I said "delete" I meant pressing the "DEL" key. But this triggers the
"Move to trash" function. Above the "Deleting files or folders" confirmation
checkbox there is another one: "Moving files or folders to trash". Both options
work fine.
However, I think the terms "delete" and "move to trash" - though technically
correct - could be a potential source of misunderstandings.
