Bug ID: 488089
Summary: Add an option to copy the symlink target when
attempting to copy a symlink to a filesystem that
doesn't support symlinks
Classification: Applications

Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Priority: NOR

Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Demonstrative video: https://youtu.be/juPaQr_fUZw
When attempting to copy symlinks to something like FAT, you will be unable to
do so. If I try to copy the files in masses this poses a problem as I would
need to hunt down the symlink from the mass of files. To this I propose that
when copying a symlink the dialogue prompts the user to allow to copy the
target file instead of the symlink. This should probably not apply to moving
the file as the target file might have already been moved or it might take away
the target that's to be moved later in the queue.
>From what I see, this dialogue was made with bug 136746
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy a symlink to a FAT filesystem
OBSERVED RESULT
The dialogue prompts the user to either skip or cancel
EXPECTED RESULT
The dialogue should allow the user to also copy the symlink target in place of
the symlink
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
