After several problems with the update i made a clean install for KDE neon.
All test were done after the clean install of KDE neon.

SUMMARY
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. enter edition mode in desktop
2. add the applet to desktop
3. whole desktop crashes
OBSERVED RESULT
black desktop, then the desktop is back and edition mode is exited to normal
mode
EXPECTED RESULT
the applet should appear on desktop
