It can remain in the path, just that Qt4 is the first one. As soon as you start developing for KDE/Qt4 you want to access the Qt4 tools, so you should have qt4/bin in the path. Another problem is that now it works inconsistently. If you pass the -DQT_QMAKE_EXECUTABLE with the right path when running cmake it will find it, but as soon as you run make, it will complain again.
