I do think it sounds like a hack, but well. I guess it depends on how GLOB, and REMOVE works. I think most packagers does make install DESTDIR=/some/temporary/path, normally as a user (or with fakeroot). I don't know if the combination of GLOB, REMOVE and DESTDIR will make cmake try to remove things in the real prefix or just remove things under DESTDIR. under DESTDIR, there should be nothing to remove, so no problem. in the real prefix there might be things it can't remove. Will that make cmake fail? That would be a big problem.
