"For the record", I don't care that much and I'm not complaining. I'm speaking up because I'm with Ilya on this, and likely many other voices, if I did care I'd be damned annoyed, perhaps even upset, and, most importantly, because I think there's always room for improvement and this can be a "learning opportunity" to do things better in the future.
That said, the best version I saw, in my subjective opinion, wasn't even on the list of choices: The one that looks a LOT like the current design but inverted with the numeral 6 character serving the logical spot of the current > character (shape), just backwards: It's instantly recognizable and shows off the new version. Plus, in my view, it has artistic merit and can't be any worse than the current design for its multiple uses / purposes.
