Hi KDE community!

I am writing now on behalf of the "End of 10 Akademy Edition" team.

At Akademy this year we are organizing a large install event to introduce new users to KDE Plasma and KDE apps. For this, we are looking for volunteer helpers. Perhaps that could be you?!

First and foremost we need help with installation and new-user support *during* the installation event on Thursday 11 September. The more helpers we have, the bigger our end-user outreach can be and the bigger and more fabulous the Akademy End Of 10 install fest will be.

Can you help us help new users install and use KDE software during the install party?

If yes, please be in touch with me, Aniqa ([email protected]), or Farid ([email protected]).

Other ways you can help include:

* Before the event: inviting friends/co-workers, promoting the event with members in the target audience of artists, designers, illustrators, developers (Python in particular), and gamers in Berlin.

* During the event: managing attendees, getting feedback to further KDE Goals, troubleshooting end-user problems, being supportive and encouraging with new users, welcoming people to the KDE community.

* After the event: Publishing posts/photos (with permission) online about the event, documentation of end-user feedback for KDE Goals.

A unique aspect is that we will target user groups related to KDE's current goals: (1) Development, (2) Input, (3) Recruitment. We intend to use this moment for feedback, demands, suggestions, features related to the KDE Goals, as well as promotion of KDE Frameworks for students and the new bindings for Python and Rust.

More details and summary below.

Please be in touch asap if you can help us make the event a wild success! We need and want your support :)

Cheers,

Joseph

The current cycle of KDE Goals focuses on three main goals:

(1) Streamlining application development to make it easier for developers to create KDE and third-party apps using languages beyond C++ such as Python and Rust;

(2) Improving input device support to deliver seamless experiences for diverse users including artists with drawing tablets, gamers with controllers, and those needing accessibility features; and

  (3) Formalizing recruitment processes to bring new contributors to KDE.
