Please try whether the problem holds only for GL compositing or also for XRender, and in case it's only GL you should specify the used GL backend (GL, GLSL2, GLES) and check whether "LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 kwin --replace&" behaves "better" - but iirc the OpenGL support in VBox ain't that great anyway?!
