I’ve spent a year working on OSX/CI for KF5 and I believe that it helped
locating
and fixing quite a few bugs which weren’t existing only on the OSX platform...

This work helped to revive communication between KDE and OSX/MacPorts
(developers
and port maintainers).

Currently the OSXBUILDERs are taken offline due to Scarlett working on a major
overhaul of the CI code being run on Jenkins.

It would be a shame if MacPorts (but specifically René) is being shunned for
being
a controversial, but very active and productive developer!

We already stated a few times that MacPorts doesn’t follow the app bundle
approach
KDE is targeting at with its applications, as it is more focused on OSX
power-users
who want to have a more modular and Linuxy environment on their Apple machines.

@Boudhayan:
Calling MacPorts/Fink “invasive" isn’t going to motivate us to work with you.

You are right, KDE is a community, so why not behave like one?! From both
sides!

MacPorts/Fink’s port system should rather remind you of a typical Linux system
and
thus allow oftentimes a much simpler solution to bring KDE applications to life
on
OSX. Why don’t you want to see the plusses and seemingly solely focus - from
your
point of view - on all the negative aspects of such a setup?!?

If you or others aren’t interested in supporting René’s endeavour, don’t be
surprised
if you’ll *** loose MacPorts’ KDE user-base *** very soon altogether, as he is
one of
a few who still keeps it ticking. If that were to happen, I’d find that rather
sad,
because it would render the year I spent on OSX/CI for KF5 completely in vain
and
would sentence KF5 applications on OSX/MacPorts to death, including KMyMoney,
which I
dedicated my work to mostly within the past years.

I hope there are chances of reconsideration for the sake of the KDE
community!

I like Ian’s idea of a “Working Party” very much…
Would be good to see that appear at last.
:)

Best regards,
Marko
