It doesn't help me.

The first thing which I am still trying to understand is the rationale
behind creating this incomprehensible hairball of a build system/SCM.
I am still waiting for an explanation from the original author of this
unqualified fiasco submitted to this mailing list -- yes, Adriaan De
Groot, that means you.

I have been involved with this project since Day One, and, since
January 2009, it has become impossible for me to build KDE4 with this
so-called "official" KDE4/OpenSolaris build system. Luckily i have my
own. I can only imagine the reaction of someone new and unfamiliar
with the devolution of this project.

Leaving aside the fact that one of the source code repositories [
guess which one ] seems to be down, or unavailable more often than up
and available, splitting source code repositories and creating this
incomprehensible and unmanageable build system has achieved one goal:
it will chase away anyone new who would like to become involved with
this project. I am quite certain that this is not one of the project's
main goals.
