My guess is that the issue is gettext (libintl) 0.17 is GPLv3-only, while gettext 0.15 (and possibly 0.16) is GPLv2-only. We (KDE) can live with GPLv2 only but we need to watch out; I've not got a complete picture of the licenses in our dependency tree, but you can't mix GPLv2 and GPLv3 without feeling yucky. [ade]
