I admit to knowing little about pkgbuild/pkgtool as most of my experience comes
from GAR/GARNOME.

However, it seems to me that if we can figure out how get pkgbuild to
unroll a tarball,
then all we have to carry around is the Solaris directory and extract
that as an extra.
Not sure if that can be done.  But it would sure be easier than lugging around
the hundreds of thousands of files that are probably part of Dude at this point.
I recognize that there are some benefits to havin the source unrolled,
as I regularly
use it to create patches for the Solaris/diffs directories for each product.
