We don't have any benchmarks that would justify or not the use of any of the 
extra instructions, it would be nice to get something out of the Qt's QTestLib

nothing is set in stone, but dropping any bits that lower performance could 
touch some hearts
actually you can build your own packages quite easily by following the steps at 
http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/KDE_on_Solaris/OpenSolaris#Effortless_building_of_KDE_4.3
 , just grep for sse2 in the include folder and remove it
