Hi: First of all, I am most appreciative of having the use of your open source software, and for the work you put into it. I have been using KDE for several years, with various Linux distributions, but mostly Kubuntu.
The 9:04 version I found very different. When I upgraded it changed many of the actions; e.g. my keyboard was changed so I could not do apostrophes etc. It took me quite a bit of time to find the way to correct these. I have not upgraded to 9:10 because after going through the changes with 9:04 I can't afford to screw up my important files or go through finding out how to make things to work for me. One thing that is still a problem for me is cut (or copy) & paste. I had difficulty finding Klipper on a menu even though it was shown as installed. (I am not a computer or Linux expert although I have been using them for quite a long time.) I finally did get it installed on my task bar. Sometimes when I cut an item, then go to paste it, I find it's gone--doesn't paste, doesn't show on the Klipper menu. When I try to copy & paste in OO Spreadsheet, sometimes I have to do the action repeatedly--it won't copy the first time, but after 2 or 3 tries it will. The same goes if I want to paste something into multiple cells; usually it will only paste it once, but sometimes it will. I have not been able to figure a pattern to this apparently erratic behaviour, but it slows my work down and frustrates me. In some applications I can relocate items by drag & drop; in others (like Kmail composer) it won't do that. I also find that Firefox at times locks up and I can only exit by cutting the power. There seems to also be a problem with playing internet videos on Firefox. Sometimes they show the "play" arrow, and they will play; other times the video screen is black. This can happen on the same web site (e.g. Youtube). I have not been able to figure out where the difference is, in terms of missing plugins etc. I am not able to decipher which of the issues belong to KDE, which to Ubuntu, and which to the specific application. Again, thank you for the gift of open source software. Sincerely, Keith Shackleton -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
