Hi! I think I have detected a problem with KDE on FreeBSD (not sure if it extends to other OS'es). I´m using FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE on an old Pentium III 500 MHz PC, as a (headless) LAN file server. So, I wanted to use my notebook as a terminal to that PC, through XDMCP. I installed KDE 3.5.2 (the complete package) and then I configured kdm to listen for Direct XDMCP requests, using file Xaccess to determine the legitimate connections (although for effects of testing, I allowed everyone to connect, by uncommenting the usual line "*  # (...)". Just to note, the only change I did to kdmrc was "enable=true", and I have no firewall enabled, as this is a fresh install of FreeBSD. The problem is that when I start kdm, it does not appear to respond to XDMCP requests. So I have used sockstat to verify that kdm is indeed listening for them on port 177 UDP, but when I use "tcpdump udp" to see if there is any response by kdm, there isn't, although there is a request from the X server on my notebook (Xming). On the other side, Xming just sits there waiting for a response from kdm. Thank you for your attention.
