This came in from mav@ and I wanted to re-post it here to see if anybody else has experienced this, or can confirm the issue?

I've noticed on my PCBSD 9.0-RC3 laptop that knotify4 seems doesn't
close/stop audio device after playing some notification. As result,
sound card generates 94 interrupts per second without any use and
probably does other things also. That's not good for power saving.
Don't you know how to pacify it except disabling sound notifications?

No clue, did this only start with the update to 4.7.2 KDE in ports?

Possibly so. At least I haven't noticed this before last months.

Sounds like a bug to me. Have you pinged the KDE porting team?

No. I don't know them. Can you ping them for me? You should easily see
unneeded sound interrupts by yourself in `systat -vm 1`. Process using
the device (knotify4) can be found in /dev/sndstat output if
hw.snd.verbose sysctl set to 4.
