Alas, that doesn't really help me. :-(  As I said, in previous KDE
versions, it used to be no problem with the ATI Radeon either, but now
it is, and the problem just remains even upon a complete
recompilation.

Since mplayer works fine, it cannot be a real hardware issue either.
