Thanks for your input. I was going to use it, but since you layed out
the problems, I wont. Was just hoping to find way to harden install
without requiring all the password prompts for specific user actions.

Hmm... it's available ATM. It appears it's due for removal from the main
tree any day now (30-day-mask and warning went in Nov 24). The bug said
it'd be removed to the kde overlay, however, so it'd be available from
there. Of course it'd still be available from the main-tree "attic" as
well.
(Gentoo's main tree is still cvs, unfortunately, thus cvs attic. Most
overlays are git and there's a years-ongoing project to convert the main
tree, but...)
