As you are probably aware, we have recently corresponded on the networkmanager-list. I'm trying to experiment with NM-0.7 in a KDE/Gentoo sandbox. I started with KDE 3.5.9 but kept getting the "Trying to start the system settings daemon" message repeatedly. I thought that the "system settings daemon" was either a Gnome or KDE4 thing so I tried KDE 4.0.5 but got the same message. Am I way off track here? I would prefer to use KDE 3.5.9 if that is sufficient to get everything working. What is used for the settings daemon?
