I personally like it. I've already delegated the design to two other people who promised to come up with something (one of them was Pinheiro, but as we all know, he is super-ultra-busy, the other guy, Eugene, has not responded yet). We could really use some fresh design. And btw. I'm aslo working on a narrower list, which will have simply the name and small status icon next to it (and possibly the avatar too) and then there is also planned a grid view of your contacts (I believe it is submitted as GSoC).
