@David: Yes it is an optional button which the user will have to manually add it to the toolbar. Adding it to the menu sounds good too. @Thomas: This patch is for https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=307659. Cases in which I think it will be helpful are when user is not using the desktop applet for some reason, or to quickly open the contact list from the chat window (eg using a shortcut).
