tested 4.1.96 earlier, plasma...is sort of improved i think. the colouring 
doesn't display properly, it also refuses to set a desktop picture, other than 
that generally seems to be much better. for people looking to use it as a shell 
at the moment though, i'd suggest 4.1.3, and possibly running litestep over 
that with the lsplasma theme for the taskbar ( because for some reason, my 
taskbar in 4.1.3 plasma dissapears all the damn time. and also doesn't allow 
minimising any non kde apps to it...and the app finder oesn't add non kde apps.)
overall though, it's looking rather nice, thanks guys.
