I work on the side for a small, start-up computer consulting company that deals with small businesses. Almost all of these are dependent on QuickBooks. With Microsoft Money closing shop, and one of my clients having their financial data held hostage by a small, proprietary accounting software that no longer exists, I've been looking for some good FOSS accounting software. I see that KMyMoney imports from QuickBooks (though that format changes with different versions, so I'm not expecting this to work 100%). I also see that KMyMoney has been ported to KDE 4. I'm not seeing any information on Windows/Mac/Solaris/BSD ports.
The download page just has a source download. Has anyone tried building it on Windows? Is there a good deal of additional porting needed for KDE 4 apps to build on Windows usually? In all fairness, QuickBooks may be the one app that is keeping some of these clients in Windows. I might be able to try and get some clients moved to Linux boxes with KMyMoney, but I'm guessing I'll have better luck with one small change as opposed to a huge change. -- T. J.
