Is there any error, or bug report for extragear/kmid that I've missed? (I'm the
current maintainer.)

I'm sure that there may be some unknown bugs, probably within the windows
backend of KMid, because it has never been available from kdewin, so windows
users can't try and report problems. Just for the record, two related links:
* KMid windows builds, http://www.winkde.org/pub/kde/ports/win32/dashboard/
* Running in windows, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLHpD9OoOIk

Pedro
