I understand your point and I am not asking you to release FFmpeg along with MLT. In fact, I plan to handle packaging of Kdenlive. My first step is writing a static compilation howto: http://www.kdenlive.org/contribution-manual/how-package-kdenlive-and-mlt-staticly Then I plan to define precisely MLT modules and ffmpeg compilation flags and contact package maintainer to ask them to produce the same MLT and Kdenlive versions. otherwize, someone will provide h264, another packager will not. All this will end-up in a giant mess. Don't worry, I will handle communicatin with maintainer. All I need now is to be able to compile MLT staticly, which I am not. So if you could explain what goes wrong here: http://www.kdenlive.org/contribution-manual/how-package-kdenlive-and-mlt-staticly Kind regards, Jean-Michel
