I was able to solve my problem of Kdenlive crashing upon opening a file by deleting the kdenliverc file. I have since upgraded to Kdenlive 0.5 and now I have the same problem except deleteing the kdenliverc file does not help much. It crashes (signal 11 SIGSEGV) shortly after opening Kdenlive and I can't open any of my files. I can't even create a new file.
I upgraded by installing rpm files from rpmfind.net. Perhaps there's something I missed during the installation? I installed every dependency file it asked for (mlt 2.4, libmlt, libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.4), etc). Any help would be appreciated. What does "(no debugging symbols found)" mean? Here's the back trace: (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/i686/libthread_db.so.1".
